About Novus

Novus is a specialist group of fully qualified and experienced freelancers. We focus on marketing communications and event planning. We work in all industries and company types but are particularly effective in the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors.

We do not employ staff; we have no office to upkeep; we are all independent freelancers and we never pass on work to agencies. This keeps our overheads at the most base of levels, unlike most other marketing and event management companies, and we can pass this saving on to our customers.

We provide a very personal service, with 1-2-1 being our core philosophy. We focus on results, ensure value for money, and put achievement over activity. We work so closely with our clients that we become an integral part of the team. It’s the best way, we feel, for our clients to have excellent employees, without having to employ them!

Our history

Novus was founded at the height of the recession in 2009 when many organisations desperately needed more revenue but instead slashed their marketing budgets. The idea was to provide a chance for these companies to communicate their offering to the market, have access to the best marketing skills and create new areas of profit without the need for huge budgets.

In the beginning, it was a team of one, Carol Stevenson. Now the company has expanded to include a whole team of freelancers, all of whom Carol has worked with before and knows personally as well as professionally.

As we have all freelanced for many years, we have experience across many different industries but we specialise in the Healthcare, Government and Voluntary sectors. Most recently we have worked with The Chartered Institute of Librarians and Information Professionals, the Patient Information Forum, as well as various NHS and Central Government bodies.

Carol Stevenson set up Novus in May 2009. She is an accomplished marketing and events freelancer with considerable experience of marketing to the Healthcare, Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, Retail and Government sectors.

Carol specialises in Events and Conferences, Communications, Relationship Marketing and Branding and has a proven track record of successfully building and managing all aspects of marketing activities, whatever the budget.
